On 26 May 2026, members, church leaders, and invited guests gathered at Kampung Plaie, Sebuyau, to celebrate the Groundbreaking Ceremony of Plaie Seventh-day Adventist Church Building. This meaningful occasion marked an important milestone in the faith journey of the Plaie congregation and the surrounding community as preparations officially began for the construction of a new house of worship. The ceremony brought together people with thankful hearts and joyful spirits as they celebrated the beginning of a long-awaited project that reflects God’s guidance and faithfulness.
The event was filled with thanksgiving, joy, and renewed commitment among church members and guests who witnessed this special moment. More than just the beginning of a construction project, the ceremony represented the congregation’s hope and vision for the future. The new church building will serve as a place where believers can gather together for worship, prayer, fellowship, and spiritual growth. It also reflects the unity and dedication of the church community in strengthening their faith and ministry.

During the ceremony, Pr. Semilee Tajau, President of Sarawak Mission, shared an encouraging message on the importance of the church within the community. He stated, “The house of God that we build here is to make us feel the presence of Jesus in our village and in our daily life.” His message reminded everyone that the church is more than a physical building. It is a spiritual home where people can experience the love, peace, and presence of Jesus in their lives. The church will also become a source of hope and blessing for the people of Kampung Plaie and nearby communities.

The church construction is expected to begin in June 2026 and continue through July 2026. Supporting this project is a volunteer team from Australia known as Fly and Build, led by Calvin Townend. Their involvement reflects the spirit of unity and mission as believers from different places come together to support God’s work. The progress and development of the project will be coordinated and monitored by Andrew Ganya, Sarawak Mission Building Coordinator, together with Pr. Timothy Russel, the district pastor, who will oversee the project throughout the construction period.

In conclusion, the Plaie Seventh-day Adventist Church would like to express sincere appreciation to everyone who has supported this project through prayers, attendance, encouragement, and contributions. Every effort and support given has become a meaningful part of this journey of faith. As the church community moves forward with this project, it is their prayer that the new church building will become a place of worship, fellowship, hope, and spiritual growth for many generations to come. As reminded in Psalm 127:1, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” May God continue to guide every step, bless every hand involved, and bring this vision to completion for His glory.
