On 18 May 2026, the congregation and community of Keniong Lama gathered with hearts full of gratitude to God to witness the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the new Keniong Lama Seventh-day Adventist Church Building. This meaningful occasion marked the beginning of a new chapter in the church’s mission and growth, as members came together to celebrate the start of a long-awaited project that reflects God’s guidance and blessings.

The current church building has served the congregation faithfully for many years. However, due to the growing number of members and increasing church activities, the existing worship space is no longer sufficient. In response to this need, the church has taken a step of faith by beginning the construction of a new building that will better support worship services, ministry work, and community outreach. This development reflects the church’s commitment to continue growing and serving God’s people effectively.
The new church building is designed to accommodate approximately 200 worshippers. It will also serve as a center for evangelism, mission programs, fellowship activities, and community engagement. More than just a physical structure, the church is envisioned as a place where faith will be strengthened, relationships will be built, and the message of the gospel will continue to spread within Keniong Lama and beyond.

The ceremony was attended by church elder, including Pr. Semilee Tajau, President of Sarawak Mission, Pr. Brian Scott, Executive Secretary, Mr. Dave Keith Mina, Treasurer, and Mr. Andrew Ganya, Church Building Coordinator. The district pastor, Pr. Stephen Kalong, was also present, together with church members and invited guests who came to support and witness this important milestone in the church’s history. Their presence reflected strong unity and shared commitment in advancing God’s work.
Construction of the project officially began on 19 May 2026 after the contractor was appointed by the local church board and approved by the Sarawak Mission Executive Committee. This decision shows the cooperation between the local church and the wider mission organization in carrying out the project. During the ceremony, Pr. Semilee Tajau shared a spiritual message based on Scripture, reminding the congregation that God is the true foundation of every work. He emphasized that the church is not only a building, but a spiritual house built upon Jesus Christ, as stated in 1 Corinthians 3:11, “For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” He also highlighted God’s promise in Haggai 2:9, encouraging the church that God’s glory will fill His house when His people remain faithful.

In conclusion, the Keniong Lama Seventh-day Adventist Church expresses sincere gratitude to everyone who has supported this project through prayers, planning, and contributions. The church prays that this new building will become a place of worship, fellowship, and spiritual growth for generations to come. As written in Psalm 127:1, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” May God bless this project from its beginning until completion, and may His name be glorified through the Keniong Lama church.
