The creation of the Northern Central Sarawak Mission aims to better serve the northern and central areas of Sarawak by improving coordination and outreach efforts.
On March 29, 2025, the Sarawak Mission held a meeting at the Bintulu Seventh-day Adventist Church, starting at 2:00 PM. This gathering was part of the ongoing efforts to discuss important developments and updates regarding the mission’s activities and the formation of the new Northern Central Sarawak Mission. The meeting served as an opportunity for church leaders and members to come together, learn about the changes, and discuss how the restructuring will impact their work and outreach in the region.

The reorganization of the Sarawak Mission marks a key change in how mission work will be structured in the region. The creation of the Northern Central Sarawak Mission aims to better serve the northern and central areas of Sarawak by improving coordination and outreach efforts. This restructuring will focus on practical changes, such as redefining leadership roles and reorganizing resources, to make mission work more effective and accessible. A briefing session has been arranged to explain these changes, clarify the goals of the new mission, and outline how the transition will impact local congregations and communities. The session will offer church leaders and members a clearer understanding of what to expect moving forward.

During the meeting, the purpose and procedures of the Sarawak Mission reorganization were presented by Pr. Abel Bana, Pr. Nelson Bendah, Elder Joshua Chee, and Pr. Justin Ginsud. They explained the rationale behind the restructuring and outlined the steps involved in establishing the new Northern Central Sarawak Mission. Their presentations provided valuable insight into the goals of the reorganization, focusing on improving coordination, outreach, and ministry effectiveness across the region.

Following the presentations, a question-and-answer session took place, where officers from the Malaysian Union Mission and Sarawak Mission addressed queries from attendees. This interactive session allowed church leaders and members to clarify any doubts, share feedback, and engage in discussions about the changes and their impact on the mission’s future.

Pr. Abel Bana, President of the Malaysian Union Mission, referenced Joshua 3:7 during his address, emphasizing God’s guidance in times of transition. He highlighted how, just as God exalted Joshua to lead Israel, the reorganization of the Sarawak Mission is a step of faith and unity, trusting that God will continue to lead and guide the mission’s work.
The meeting provided important insights into the reorganization of the Sarawak Mission and the formation of the Northern Central Sarawak Mission. Through the presentations and reports, attendees were able to understand the practical steps of the restructuring and how it would affect the mission’s operations. With strong leadership and a shared commitment to God’s guidance, the Sarawak Mission is prepared to move forward, focusing on better coordination and more effective ministry in the region.
