The Sarawak Mission Youth Ministries sent three delegates to participate in the first Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) Young Professional Summit held at Avana Bangkok Hotel, Thailand, from 23–26 July 2026. The summit brought together young professionals from across the SSD territory for a meaningful time of learning, fellowship, and spiritual growth. Through inspiring presentations, discussions, and worship sessions, the delegates were encouraged to understand their role and purpose in God’s mission.
Throughout the programme, various speakers shared timely messages that challenged young professionals to become active participants in the church and its mission. One of the key messages shared by Elder Roger Caderma was, “Our church is alive in SSD territory because young people are active.” He reminded the delegates that the involvement of young people plays an important role in strengthening and moving the church forward. Another important reminder was based on Proverbs 29, highlighting that when young people lack vision, they will struggle, and when young people in the church lack vision, the church will also be affected.
The summit also emphasised the importance of understanding one’s purpose in God’s mission. The delegates were reminded, “You are here to understand your role and purpose in the mission.” Pr. Felixian Felicitas shared that the identity of Adventist young professionals must be built in Christ. He reminded everyone that, “There is no moment in life when we don’t need Jesus,” encouraging young people to always depend on Christ in every aspect of their lives.
Other speakers also shared valuable lessons on using God-given gifts and remaining faithful in daily life. Jay Louis encouraged the delegates, saying, “Do not bury the things that God has given you, but invest them for the glory of God.” Meanwhile, Jonatan Lamorin reminded young professionals that they are called to be faithful in many areas of life, including their choices, Sabbath observance, stewardship, and responsibilities. He shared that the same faithfulness shown to God should also be reflected in the workplace and daily commitments.
The First SSD Young Professional Summit became a valuable experience for the Sarawak Mission delegates as they gained new perspectives, strengthened their faith, and were reminded of their calling as young professionals in God’s service. May the lessons and inspiration received from this summit encourage more young people to use their talents, live faithfully, and actively participate in sharing the mission of the church.
