Twelve dedicated young people joined the YMT program held at the Seventh-day Adventist Mission of Sarawak Headquarters, Kuching, Sarawak.
The Young Missionary Training (YMT) program is a special initiative organized by the Sarawak Mission to train and empower young people for active service in gospel ministry. Designed as a five-week journey of transformation, YMT combines classroom instruction, spiritual growth activities, and practical evangelism. Participants are equipped with essential ministry skills, including Bible study facilitation, visitation, canvassing public speaking, and discipleship. Under the guidance of Pr. Chan Tin Loi, Youth Director of the Sarawak Mission, this program has become a platform to inspire and prepare the next generation of passionate and purpose-driven leaders.

From March 9 to April 16, 2025, twelve dedicated young people joined the YMT program held at the Seventh-day Adventist Mission of Sarawak Headquarters, Kuching, Sarawak. Their schedule was filled with dynamic experiences such as Pathfinder Camping, participation in the Voice of Youth Camp, and a week of evangelism in local churches, visitation, preaching, and sports. The heart of the program, however, was the five weeks of classroom training, which laid the foundation for their ministry involvement. Through hands-on activities and spiritual mentorship, these young missionaries grew in confidence, knowledge, and faith.

The missionaries were divided into five color-coded teams, each mentored by a district pastor. These teams served in various churches across the Kuching area, including Batu Kawa, Kuching English, Bumbok, Semaba, Sungai Pinang, Landeh, Kota Samarahan, Tabuan Laru, and Siburan. They led worship services, organized children’s programs, preached the gospel, and conducted community outreach. These real-life experiences helped shape their character and deepened their understanding of servant leadership and ministry work. The teams were as follows: the Red Team under Pr. Ostine Tayo, the Chocolate Team under Pr. Chua Kee Hong, the Blue Team under Pr. Ivan Affendy, the Purple Team under Pr. Cliff Bidi, and the Green Team under Pr. Eric Sanjay Dingun. Each group consisted of a blend of leaders and members, all working together to support one another throughout the training.

Notably, three young male missionaries were so deeply moved by the calling they received during their time in the program that they made the life-changing decision to pursue ministerial studies. Their willingness to dedicate their lives to full-time ministry is a testament to the impact of YMT and the power of God to guide hearts toward His service. These individuals now look forward to formal theological training with the dream of becoming future pastors and church leaders.
Two participants shine brightly throughout the program for their outstanding commitment and leadership. Glen Jimbai was named the most outstanding male missionary for his consistent initiative, servant-hearted leadership, and strong presence in every aspect of the mission work. Rozallia Francis earned the title of most outstanding female missionary for her ability to organize and lead evangelistic meetings, inspire her peers, and connect meaningfully with the people she served. Both exemplified the spirit of YMT, humble, passionate, and purpose driven.

The Young Missionary Training Program 2025 was more than just a training event; it was a life-changing experience that sparked spiritual revival and purpose in the hearts of young people. With strong leadership, meaningful ministry opportunities, and powerful spiritual encounters, this program has left a lasting impact on everyone involved. Once a missionary, always a missionary ready to serve the Lord wherever we go.
