The ceremony marked an important moment in the lives of these 49 young graduates, who took their first big step toward their educational journeys.
On January 15, 2025, Sunny Hill Kindergarten celebrated a heartwarming milestone as 49 students graduated in a joyful ceremony held at the Sunny Hill Auditorium. The event was filled with excitement, laughter, and emotion as families, teachers, and staff gathered to honor the achievements of the graduating class.
The ceremony marked an important moment in the lives of these 49 young graduates, who took their first big step toward their educational journeys. Surrounded by their loved ones, the graduates reflected on their memories of their time at Sunny Hill Kindergarten, leaving with bright futures ahead of them.

The 49 graduates were guided by a dedicated team of 13 teachers. The K2D class, led by Teacher Bibiana Antau, the K3A class, led by Teacher Patricia Arthur Atos, the K3B class, led by Teacher Joyce Chai, and the K3C class, led by Teacher Jitus Juwen, all contributed to the success and growth of the children during their time at the kindergarten.

A special highlight of the ceremony was the presence of Pastor Semilee Tajau, the President of Mission Sarawak, and Mr. Roland Teo, the President of the Alumni of Sunny Hill School, who were the distinguished guests of honor. Pastor Semilee delivered an inspiring speech and shared words of encouragement with the graduates. He emphasized the power of education, calling it a mighty weapon that can change lives, open doors to great opportunities, and enable individuals to create positive change in their surroundings and beyond their imagination.
Pastor Semilee also referenced a passage from the Bible, Proverbs 22:6, which says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” He highlighted the importance of laying a strong foundation in a child’s early years, noting that today’s graduation was a celebration of the success of that foundation.
Madam Maria Bakri, the headmistress of Sunny Hill Kindergarten since 2001, also marked a significant milestone, celebrating 23 years of dedicated service. Throughout her time at the school, Madam Maria emphasized the importance of teaching students the values of love and faith. She shared her belief that every child should know that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, regardless of their Christian denomination.

With a total of 122 students at the school, this graduation ceremony was a special occasion for both the school and the families involved. The event was a colorful celebration of the students’ accomplishments, as well as the invaluable support from their teachers who helped shape their growth and development. The ceremony also featured performances by the talented kindergarten students, and a prize-giving ceremony honored those who excelled in their studies. The day left a lasting impression of love, joy, and pride for everyone involved.
