Around 1,000 Pathfinders, Master Guides, Adventurers, church members, and guests gathered in Kuching for the World Pathfinder Day 2026 Celebration. The celebration brought together 30 Pathfinder Clubs for a Sabbath of worship, fellowship, Pathfinder activities, and community service. With the theme “Speak, Lord!”, based on 1 Samuel 3:10, the celebration encouraged young people to listen to God’s voice and be ready to respond to His calling. The day began with Sabbath School from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., featuring music by the Adventist Hope Ensemble, Scripture reading, testimonies, and Pathfinder skill demonstrations. Bunga Pathfinder Club presented a fancy drill, Pasir Pathfinder Club demonstrated knot tying, and Horizon Pathfinder Club demonstrated semaphore signalling.
The main worship service focused on 1 Samuel 3:10, which was read by Adventurer Scarlett Mendelsohn. The verse records young Samuel’s response when God called him: “Speak, for Your servant is listening.” In his sermon and charge, Pr. Brian Scott Padam challenged Master Guides, Pathfinders and Adventurers to develop three important qualities in their relationship with God. “We need to be Faithful, Available for the Lord and Teachable as Master Guides, Pathfinders and Adventurers, in order for us to hear God’s voice,” he said. His message highlighted the three qualities through the word F.A.T. Faithfulness means staying committed to God, being available means being willing to respond when God calls and being teachable means having a humble heart that is ready to learn and follow His guidance. The message reminded participants that hearing God’s voice is not only about asking Him to speak, but also about having a heart that is ready to listen, learn and respond.
Throughout the worship programme, Pathfinder Clubs took part through Bible storytelling, music, and other presentations. Kuching English Church Pathfinder Club, Kota Samarahan Pathfinder Club, Ignite Simunjan Pathfinder Club, Lumenis Fidei Pathfinder Club and D’Shining Cross Choir were among those who contributed to the programme. The celebration also included an Investiture Service coordinated by MG Albert Maon and MG Fiffy Tiffney Rapieng, recognising the growth, achievements, and commitment of Pathfinders in their Christian journey. Following the morning worship, participants shared a Potbless fellowship before moving into the afternoon community service activities. Pathfinder Clubs were organised into groups to distribute food baskets to 10 families in several communities, including Tabuan Rabak, Kampung Plaie in Samarahan, Batu Kawa, Matang, Sungai Belian, Bumbok, Semaba and Sigandar.
The community service groups were sent out by Pr. Brian Scott Padam, Eld. Dave Keith M Ngali and Pr. Chan Tin Loi. The outreach gave participants an opportunity to put the message of the day into action through simple acts of kindness and compassion. It also showed that Pathfinder ministry is about more than uniforms, marching, camping and earning honours. At its heart, Pathfinder ministry looks to help young people grow in their love for God and become willing to serve others. Through the distribution of food baskets, the Pathfinders were able to bring practical help and Christian care to families in the surrounding communities.
The World Pathfinder Day 2026 Celebration was supported by a large working committee, with MG Chan Tin Loi serving as Advisor, MG Eric Sanjay Balachandar as Chairman, MG Randy Clifford Jabeng as Assistant Chairman and MG Wilson Somolu as Program Coordinator, together with Master Guides, Master Guides in Training and many volunteers. With 30 Pathfinder Clubs and approximately 1,000 people gathered, the celebration became a meaningful day of worship, learning, fellowship, and service. More than simply marking World Pathfinder Day, the event reminded everyone of the calling placed before each Master Guide, Pathfinder and Adventurer: to be Faithful, Available and Teachable. As participants returned to their churches and communities, they were encouraged to continue listening for God’s voice and to respond with the same words of Samuel: “Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.” — 1 Samuel 3:10
