Approximately 35 participants from Sarawak Mission made their way to Kota Kinabalu to be part of this meaningful gathering.
Adventist Laymen’s Services and Industries (ASI) is a global organization of Seventh-day Adventist laypeople including business professionals, entrepreneurs, and self-supporting ministries who are committed to sharing Christ in the marketplace and supporting the mission of the Church through their work, resources, and personal witness.
From 1st to 4th May 2025, the Malaysia Union Mission (MAUM) of Seventh-day Adventists held the inspiring ASI Convention 2025 at the Suria Ballroom, Hotel 7 Suria, Kota Kinabalu. This gathering brought together Adventist lay professionals, business owners, and members from across the country for a weekend of spiritual renewal, fellowship, and recommitment to God’s mission.
Among the attendees, approximately 35 participants from Sarawak Mission made their way to Kota Kinabalu to be part of this meaningful gathering. Representing diverse backgrounds ranging from healthcare professionals and educators to entrepreneurs and youth leaders the Sarawak delegation brought vibrant energy and a strong spirit of unity. Their commitment to the theme, “Called to Be Faithful,” was evident not only through their enthusiastic participation but also in the testimonies and ministry reports they shared during breakout sessions.
Many also expressed deep appreciations for the spiritual nourishment and networking opportunities the convention provided. For some, it was their first ASI convention experience, and they returned home inspired, spiritually renewed, and more determined than ever to be faithful stewards of their time, talents, and resources.
ASI Convention 2025 left a lasting impact on all who attended. The messages shared were clear and convicting: we are called to be faithful disciples in every sphere of life, trusting fully in God’s purpose, and preparing for Christ’s soon return. As the final song faded and the doors closed, hearts were reignited with purpose and a renewed commitment to live as bold, faithful witnesses for Jesus.
Throughout the weekend, participants were encouraged to uphold Adventist values such as integrity, service, healthful living, and Christlike leadership in their daily lives. The convention emphasized that faithfulness is not limited to the pulpit, but is demonstrated in every act of honesty, kindness, excellence, and witness in the workplace and community.
Pastor Abel Bana, President of MAUM, opened with a deeply resonant message: “We are here for a purpose.” He reminded attendees that as long as God’s mission remains at the center of our gatherings, “the funds will come.” Emphasizing faithfulness to God and His work, Pastor Abel Bana encouraged everyone to embrace their identity as Christ’s disciples.
Pastor Pavel Goia, Associate Ministerial Director of the General Conference, often emphasizes the urgency and joy of living in anticipation of Christ’s return. Reflecting on Matthew 13:44, where Jesus describes the kingdom of heaven as a treasure hidden in a field and so valuable that a man sells everything to obtain it. Pastor Goia reminds believers that this treasure represents a deep, personal relationship with Christ. In a world filled with distractions and uncertainty, this parable calls us to reevaluate our priorities and recognize the incomparable worth of God’s kingdom.
Adding depth to the spiritual atmosphere, Pastor Dr. GT Ng consultant White Estate General Conference delivered a striking message: “Jesus aims at the heart.” Rather than focusing on external societal reform, Jesus seeks to bring lasting change by transforming the hearts of sinners. Dr. Ng emphasized that the gospel’s power lies in this inward transformation leading to outward expressions of love, service, and integrity. His message reinforced the core truth that real faithfulness starts within.
Another spiritual highlight was the message from Elder David Fam, President of MAUM ASI. Quoting the words of Christ: “Many are called, but few are chosen,” Elder Fam challenged attendees to recognize their divine calling and to serve faithfully wherever God has placed them.
He reminded all present that this convention was more than just an event it was a divine appointment. “God will speak with you,” he declared, encouraging hearts to remain open to the Holy Spirit’s prompting and guidance. His presence and message served as a catalyst for spiritual renewal and deeper commitment.
