This project is led by Pr. Andrew Ganya, who serves as the Church Building Coordinator.
The Kabuhu Church building mission officially began with the safe arrival of the Fly and Build team, led by Pastor Townend, in the peaceful village of Kabuhu, Sijijeg. This mission, running from June 27 to July 7, 2025, was more than just a construction project, it was an act of faith, service, and community. The team came with a clear purpose: to assist the local congregation in building a new house of worship that would serve generations to come.

Upon arrival, the team was met with an incredibly warm and heartfelt welcome from the members of the Sijijeg Church, who hosted a beautiful fellowship dinner in their honor. The gathering immediately set the tone for what would become a mission rooted in unity, hospitality, and mutual love in Christ. Later that evening, everyone joined in a vesper service led by Pastor Tajan, who offered an inspiring spiritual reflection and encouraged the team to commit the entire work to God. It was a moment of surrender, humility, and purpose, as prayers were lifted for strength, protection, and the success of the days ahead.

With that spiritual foundation in place, the team began their work with dedication and joy. Support poured in from churches across the region who sent members to serve in different capacities, cooking meals, lifting beams, mixing cement, offering prayers, and simply being present. The tireless presence of Sijijeg Church members, who joined in the work every single day, stood as a powerful testimony of what faith in action looks like. Their commitment reminded all involved that the Church is not just a building, it is the people, joined together in service and worship.

This project is led by Pr. Andrew Ganya, who serves as the Church Building Coordinator. Under his leadership, the initiative has been progressing with clear direction and purpose, ensuring that each phase of the construction aligns with the mission and vision of the local church. His experience and dedication have been instrumental in uniting the church community toward a common goal, to build a house of worship that will serve as a spiritual home for generations to come.
Financially, this mission was made possible through incredible generosity. The Sarawak Mission Office contributed over RM100,000 to support the project, while the Fly and Build team generously donated an additional AUD 7,000 (approximately RM22,000) toward construction costs. These donations, combined with the humble hands and willing hearts of the volunteers, reflected the body of Christ working in harmony. Special thanks also go to Pastor Townend and Dawn Townend for their spiritual and practical leadership, and to Mary, Dene, Lester, and Ron, whose time, talents, and love made a lasting difference. Every act of service, big or small became part of something far greater than bricks and cement.

On the final day, a Commitment Service was held to dedicate the completed church to God. Pastor Townend delivered a deeply moving message centered on worship, fellowship, and discipleship, reminding everyone why the church exists in the first place. The presence of Pastor Joggery and Elder Dave added weight and affirmation to the moment. As the sun set that day, Kabuhu Church stood not only as a physical structure but as a living testimony of God’s faithfulness. This building now stands as a lighthouse for the gospel, built by many hands but established for one purpose,to bring glory to God.
