The event was transformed into a genuine community gathering because of the school’s inclusive attitude. Students’ families were able to attend and enjoy the performances.
An extraordinary concert was recently hosted by the Adventist mission school Ayer Manis in the Serian District. The event drew over 600 attendees, including students, parents, and members of the surrounding community. The performance served as a platform to demonstrate the school’s Christian ideals, as well as the many talents of its students and the active social life on campus. It was a shining illustration of how Ayer Manis School goes beyond just being a Christian school and becomes a holistic community where students can develop intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually.
The concert was put on to promote the school’s objectives and give kids an opportunity to perform for an audience of parents and community members. In addition to being a Christian school, Ayer Manis School strives to provide its pupils with a supportive community that encourages the development of their individual skills and personal relationships. They were able to showcase the well-rounded education they receive at the event by demonstrating their abilities through music, drama, and dance.

The whole faculty and every single kid, from the very smallest in kindergarten to the oldest in primary school, were all a part of the concert. No student was left out; they may have been a performer, an audience member, or even a part of the event’s backstage crew. The event was transformed into a genuine community gathering because of the school’s inclusive attitude. Students’ families were able to attend and enjoy the performances.
Pastor Terry Valten, who is also the headmaster of Ayer Manis School, was present at the event and extended a kind greeting to everyone who came, including parents, students, and instructors. He emphasized the importance of parents, PTA members, and the Mission administration in providing a supportive and well-rounded education for the students, and he expressed his appreciation for their unfaltering support. The significance of collaboration in molding the destiny of the children was emphasized by Pastor Terry, who expressed gratitude for the faith in Ayer Manis School.
Pastor Terry emphasized the importance of families sharing their excellent experiences at AMS with others. This would help to expand the school community and its positive influence. At the end of his speech, he wished the audience well and hoped they would draw strength from the students’ performances and keep working together toward their common goal. With the words “May God bless you all,” he brought a message of hope, solidarity, and appreciation.

Among the esteemed guests who graced the occasion was Pr. Semilee Tajau, who is not only chairman of Ayer Manis School but also serves as president of the Sarawak Mission. Students and parents were inspired by Pr. Semilee’s moving message. His speech echoed the teachings of Jesus in the parable of the talents found in Matthew 25:15: “To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability.” He stressed that every child has special skills that God has given them and that the school and community should do all they can to encourage and support those skills so that they might bring glory to God.
The platform is more than just a place for performances,” Pr. Semilee said in his address. A place where diversity thrives, aspirations materialize, and talents flourish. His remarks struck a chord with the listeners, serving as a poignant reminder of the significance of nurturing the unique talents that every child possesses.
In addition to the students, the Sarawak Mission Secretary, Pr. Joggery Gelu, was present at the concert to express his approval of the school’s initiatives. The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Chairman, Mr. Dizon Gumbang, was also present at the ceremony. His presence at the concert and his support were both great signs of the active role that parents play in their children’s education.
